Can I get my puppy deposit back?

We have a $500 (non-refundable) deposit down on a Siberian Husky puppy. Unfortunately recently my boyfriend and I have decided not to stay together. I called the lady last night and told her my boyfriend and I would no longer be living together. And if she could please make an exception and refund our deposit. She said no. She could carry the deposit to the next litter. Which doesn't help us at all. Unless she can find someone else to take the puppy. But I don't really feel like this is fair especially since she wasn't living up to her promises anyways (viewings) We would like to just leave it and forget about it but $500 is a lot of money. If anyone has any advice or anything I can say to her to get her to understand please let me know. And yes I already know its non-refundable and I shouldn't expect it back. Thanks
