Why is Edison still remembered while Tesla is forgotten?

They were both great promoters, but Edison was better at it. Edison's Menlo Park was a bit of a first that caught everyones imagination. Tesla was probably a more theoretical engineer than Edison was. Edison's products were generally simple, easy to understand and in general use by average people. Tesla's inventions were more ethereal and even today I doubt one person in fifty understands the difference between single and three phase.
